I have been too busy to go fishing for the last couple of weeks, a sentence that to me sounds as repulsive as it reads! But today I was going to get out onto the water….
Having derived great pleasure from smashing the pollack and ray over the last few days, I decided that a change was in order. Winds for the day were a little stiff for Lough Corrib so I decided to have a look at the river…….
Friday the 13th is a day where some stay in bed, don’t leave the house or do anything out of the ordinary for fear of disaster happening. Good job I’m not superstitious.
With the exams finally over and after a couple of days spent travelling home and catching up with friends and family, it was time to get out for some much anticipated fishing.
Over the St. Patrick’s weekend I decided to travel a little further than Lough Corrib. With the rising temperatures and seemly more pleasant weather rolling in, I wanted to see if anything was stirring way out west in Connemara.
It’s been an incredibly tough winter as an angler. The reality of the situation is that wave after wave of stormy weather has battered the country and rains have risen inland venues to unmanageable and almost unfishable levels.
Challenging winds have not quite kept me off the water for the last few weeks. There’s a few small, sheltered ponds I have been using but I have been staying away from the Corrib.
