Life for the last four years has been a balancing act between trying to juggle college, ‘work’ commitments, fatherhood and fishing, to name a few. One of the juggling balls has been set aside.

When most people have had enough is when we decided to start. With light well and truly gone we packed up the kayaks and launched from a Dublin harbour.

So I tried to do something other than fishing for the last couple of days but the lure of a large ballan wrasse was just too much to handle and I really did want to catch a good one before heading west again.

An early start was on the cards. Admittedly, Anthony Byrne from the
Irish Kayak Angling Club had beaten me to the harbour and launch site first. I had headed to the wrong harbour!

Following the return of my van and having been left with a decent amount of leftover bait from
yesterday’s foray, I decided that the logical thing to do was get the kayak out onto the water.
